Yes! This is the land I live!

-->
Born a Sri Lankan, I have always valued the vibrant and diversified society of Sri Lanka. In my circle of friends we never discriminated each other on the very superficial basis of race, religion or on the cast. I can still remember the great times that we had, we used to take care of each other and we were like an extended family.
When all this issues started being kids during the early days we used to wonder why these people were fighting each other, the fact remains that this is the unwanted reality today, “WE MUST AND NEED TO CHANGE THIS” And it is possible, when all of us rally under the one umbrella “Sri Lankan” .
During the past years many governments, social organizations, Countries have come forward to help solve this ever escalating unrest. And nothing has shown any progress. It shows that the people in the country need to come in to the realization that we need to live in peace. Now the time has come for us to get together and create the need in the society for a peaceful Sri Lanka.
In doing so we cannot neglect the fact that our brothers and sisters of other communities especially the Tamil community has many issues that need to be addressed. For example our government organizations are mainly functioning in the Sinhala language. This alone creates a major insecurity among them and also it is a humiliation for them not to be able to convey themselves freely in their own country.
We need to make the people see the beauty in diversity, while working towards educating every one the importance of creating an identity for “Sri Lankan”. We can have our individuality and should treasure it, but at the same time must learn to respect other person’s individuality as well.

Sri Lanka used to be called as the pearl of the Indian ocean, it is not only because of the beauty of the land scape but also because of the inner beauty of the people living in the island. The strength of the people lies in their diversity. How can we forget that and try to have so called clear breaks from each community?

I used this thought as the opening comment because I feel it is the call of the hour. If any one likes to comment or used this to talk about the solutions that we can find to solve this hatred among the communities please do so.
